INFO: The newest release from mysterious black metal entity BOOK OF SAND, titled The Face of the Deep, features an otherworldly evolution of the trademark sound that they have created and made completely their own. Dense productions, strange key structures, and an absolute assault on the senses for over 45 minutes utilizing distorted electric guitar, gambang, rebab, gamelan, beautiful female vocals, shrieking screams, pounding drums, and other organic/acoustic/non-Western instruments.
In our opinion, this is some of the most interesting "black metal" being made right now, and BOOK OF SAND has an unmatched gift in composing truly poignant songs by mastering non-traditional methodologies and philosophies. One of our favorite artists currently in existence. We can't recommend this highly enough.
Released by Mouthbreather Records on pro-dubbed transparent cassettes with imprinting and full color j-cards inside clear hardshell cases.
